So everybody is coming unglued because Perry said that Social Security is a Ponzi scheme.
This is not because he's inaccurate in this statement, it's because they are politicians, and old folks like to vote. So instead of arguing the facts, or laying out a plan to save SS, they're just going to paint Perry as the boogeyman that is attempting to steal Granny's check.
But the reality is this: if you called the SS office and said, "I don't want to participate in the program...give me all my money back please." They can't. They don't have it. It's been spent several times over.
And isn't that the definition of a Ponzi scheme?
